Columbus Blue Jackets Fdn - The Cannonball
The Columbus Blue Jackets Foundation's annual fundraising event, dubbed The CannonBall, was held on Wednesday, February 17 at Nationwide Arena. This party benefits the Blue Jackets Foundation’s ongoing support of youth health and wellness in central Ohio.
The theme for this year was Modern American Bandstand. Guests had the opportunity to interact with Blue Jackets players, and the evening also featured highlights of the organization’s ongoing community involvement.
Working alongside NPi Audio Visual Solutions and IM Creative, Vincent Lighting Systems designed an exciting atmosphere, using a combination of VARI*LITE VL4000 Spot, Clay Paky Sharpy Wash, Clay Paky Stormy and Clay Paky Mythos fixtures to light the tables, seating and various food stations and bar. FUEL AngleLight Zoom and wireless LED uplights added additional illumination and depth to the lighting design. The crew used a grandMA 2Light console and a High End Systems Full Boar 4 to control the elements.
Coordination was crucial, as our crew faced a fast turn-around for this event. With a packed semi full of lighting and rigging, our technicians began load-in at 2:30 am. We were ready for the guests when the doors opened at 5 pm, and we worked quickly to dismantle the rig at 10 pm, in order to have it completely out of the arena by 12:30 am, less than 24 hours from start to finish.
