Michigan Project Team
Jason Malone, our Outside Sales Representative for Michigan, Northwestern Ohio and Northern Indiana, is an old pro when it comes to the stage and entertainment lighting. Jason started playing the trumpet in elementary school. In middle school, it progressed into singing and playing a few new instruments (i.e. congas/percussion, harmonica, synthesizer, etc.) for a rock cover band. It was around this time he started to think about the production aspect of a performance. Jason found himself getting to the gigs before everybody else to add visuals effects to their shows. In his last few years in high school, Jason performed in choir and school musicals.
Before long, Jason found himself going to electronic shows in Detroit. The light shows at these events really blew him away and sparked his interest in performance lighting. Shortly after, Jason decided to open his own lighting production company. Jason ran Geneses Lighting in Detroit for two years until he moved to Kalamazoo, where he continued his production set ups for his band’s shows. All of this eventually lead to him organizing his own events where he could design a setting.
Just after marrying his beautiful wife Stephanie, he returned to school at St. Clair County Community College (SC4) to finish his Mechatronic Engineering degree. While attending SC4 he took a part time jobs as assistant for the theatre manager. Getting back into the sound and lighting booth, it brought back his enthusiasm for working in theatre.
When Jason’s not working he loves to spend time with Stephanie working on their home, playing music with friends and going to concerts, plays or any type of show or music/art events with his wife. Jason loves a beautiful sunset. They always remind him of when they were first married and lived in San Diego.
