What do you like most about the lighting industry?
What intrigues me the most about the lighting industry is its potential to transform spaces and experiences. Lighting isn’t just about illumination; it can evoke emotions, enhance architecture, and even improve well-being. I am fascinated by the blend of technology, design, and psychology in lighting solutions.
Who inspires you?
I draw inspiration from diverse sources, including visionary leaders, innovative thinkers, and individuals who demonstrate resilience and kindness in the face of challenges.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to enter the lighting industry?
My advice would be to immerse yourself in the latest trends and technologies in lighting design and technology. Networking with professionals already in the industry can provide valuable insights and opportunities. Additionally, gaining hands-on experience through internships or projects can help you develop practical skills and build a strong portfolio. Keep learning and stay updated on advancements in both the design and sustainability aspects of lighting.
What’s one thing — either industry-related or not — you learned in the last month?
I have learned that the privilege of a lifetime is being who you are. Anything can be achieved with a good healthy dose of courage.
What’s something about you (a fun fact) that not many people know?
My immigrant parents are from Barbados and Panama. My love for color, music (soca, calypso, reggae, cumbia, tÃpico, merengue, salsa), dancing, tradition, and gathering runs deep. I have participated multiple times in Grand Kadooment Day, the grand finale of the Crop Over Festival in Barbados.
My spouse is on the US Women’s National Amputee Soccer Team and is the first African American woman to play the sport professionally in the USA
What’s the last book you read?
Finding Me by Viola Davis. Her story is inspiring, uplifting, remarkable, and educational. Her courage and determination are the threads that run through her entire story.
What is your favorite hobby?
Traveling is probably my favorite.

Elvis Crespo (Merengue)
What’s the next place on your travel bucket list?
I would love to visit Italy and Greece.
If you had to eat one meal every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Definitely Italian food!
What’s one item you can’t live without?
Can I have a couple? If so, I would say 100% organic bamboo sheets (try them and you will understand), water, and movies.
